Hi, I’m Max, A kiwi guy who loves New Zealand.
What is this website about you may ask yourself? It’s a simple website that tries to explain in clear terms the price inflation of common products in New Zealand.
Doesn’t the government already do that for us? Well, like most of you I don’t have a degree in economics or statistics. So when Stats NZ comes out with a report that says something like “prices rose by 1.3 percent and the Consumers Price Index is now 3.3 percent”, I have to do some serious thinking and calculating to work out how this relates to me. Does this mean fuel is more expensive? By how much? What about milk? There is no easy way to tell which of the products I buy cost more.
That is why I made this website; every week it tracks the price of common products that I buy, along with products that have been suggested to me.
I am a bit of a minimalist, so the list of products isn’t very big, if there is a product you would like to see added, just let me know at products(at)pricey.nz
